Katie Busi and
Lysandra Williams combined for 26 points and 14 rebounds but the Cal State Stanislaus women's basketball team fell to Alaska Anchorage, 86-52, Friday night.
Sophomore guard Nikki Aden scored a career-high 16 points and senior point guard Jackie Thiel had a flawless outing Friday as the 3rd-ranked Alaska Anchorage women's basketball team topped the Warriors at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex.
UAA Junior forward Nicci Miller scored all 13 of her points in the first half for the Seawolves (10-1), who won their ninth straight and increased their homecourt win streak to 12 with the West Region victory.
The Warriors are now 6-2 and will play the same UAA team Saturday evening at 5:15 p.m. AST.
Busi and Williams each had 13 points with Busi pulling nine rebounds to lead the Warriors.
Gwen Page added 12 points. Stanislaus trailed 49-24 at the break and finished with a 33.9 percent shooting percentage.
CSUS jumped ahead 4-2 in the early going as the Warriors grabbed eight of the game's first 10 rebounds. But UAA answered quickly with a 9-0 to take the lead for good.
A few minutes later, junior guard Kiki Taylor (9 pts, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals) would start a 13-0 run for the Seawolves with a layup, followed by an assist on a Thiel three-pointer, as the lead stretched to 31-10 at the 7:13 mark.
