TURLOCK — Christin Gowan had a career-high with 20 points but it wasn't enough as the Cal State Stanislaus women's basketball team dropped its fourth straight game, 78-67, to Humboldt State Friday night at Warrior Arena.

Gowan turned in her second consecutive double-digit game, going 5-for-13 from the field, but it was her strong free throw shooting that netted her eight of her points. The Warriors dropped to 6-17 overall and 4-13 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. Gowan also had six rebounds and connected on two three-pointers.

Humboldt State, likely a CCAA tournament bound team, improved to 14-10 overall and 10-7 in the CCAA. The Lumberjacks were led by Jennifer Enos and Katie Franci each with 13 points. Franci also had 14 rebounds. Franci had 9 points and 11 rebounds in the first half as the Jacks took a 36-27 lead at the break.

After HSU led by as many as 14 points late in the second half when Jessica Haayer made a layup for a 65-51 lead at 4:52, the Warriors cut into the lead and pulled with in seven down the stretch.

A pair of Gowan free throws at 1:50 pulled Stanislaus within seven but the Lumberjacks held on their fourth straight win over CSUS since joining the conference at the start of the 2006-07 season.

Shristy Kumar scored 15 points with three steals and Katie Busi chipped in 10 points, pulled down 8 rebounds with three steals and a block to pace the Warriors.

Two other Lumberjacks — Kayla Henry and Brittney Taylor — also had double-digits in scoring with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Cal State Stanislaus will play host to Sonoma State, which lost to Chico State 72-52 Friday night. Tip-off is at 5:30 p.m.
