Warriors finish season on a high note

2/29/2008 6:43:40 PM

The Cal State Stanislaus women's basketball team finished the season with an impressive 58-34 victory over Cal State Los Angeles, Friday at Warrior Arena.  With the win, the Warriors finish the season with a 7-19 record overall and 5-15 in CCAA play.

The Golden Eagles jumped out to an early five point lead at 7-2, but the Warriors went on a 17-0 run spanning five minutes of play to take a commanding 12 point lead.  The Warriors led by 13 points at halftime and the Golden Eagles would never get within 10 points of the Warriors the rest of the game.  The 34 Golden Eagle points were the fewest points the Warriors have allowed all season.  Cal State L.A. was only able to net 12 field goals all game and just four in the second half.

Lysandra Williams led the Warriors in scoring, dropping in 16 points on eight of 19 shooting.  Senior Shristy Kumar scored 13 points and finished her stellar career with 917 points, good enough for third all-time at Cal State Stanislaus.  Tiare Dvorak also scored in double figures, netting 12 points of her own.  Aleta Stamps had a solid game scoring seven points and collecting seven rebounds.  Amber Whittington scored 12 points to lead the Golden Eagles.

The final game marked the end of the road for just two seniors, Shristy Kumar and Amanda Everett, both who were mainstays in the Warrior starting lineup.
