TURLOCK – Junior Miguel Abascal scored two goals while playing with a cast on his left forearm Sunday to lead the Cal Poly Pomona Broncos to their first California Collegiate Athletic Association win of the season, 4-0 over Cal State Stanislaus at the Turlock Regional Sports Complex.

The win moves the Broncos' record to 3-4-0 overall and 1-3-0 in the CCAA. The Warriors lose their fourth game in a row, dropping their record to 1-4-1 overall and 0-3-0 in CCAA play.

Abascal struck first in the 21st minute. Tyler Reinhart fed Abascal a ball from midfield. Abascal beat one defender in the penalty box and shot from 12 yards out to notch his first goal of the season and give the Broncos a 1-0 lead.

Abascal would score again five minutes later when he broke free of the defense and met Warrior goalkeeper Javier Rosales in the penalty box. Rosales came out of the goalie box to challenge and Abascal popped the ball over Rosales' head to bounce the ball in for his second goal of the game.

The game was a one-sided affair, as the Broncos dominated in all aspects. The Warriors were outshot 19-6. Pomona also played very physically, racking up 29 fouls and four yellow cards on the day.

Reinhart added a goal of his own just 1 minute, 14 seconds into the second half. Kevin Jin sent a cross into the penalty box just in front of the goal and Reinhart was able to chip it in for his first goal of the year, giving Cal Poly Pomona a 3-0 lead.

Nathan Braunwalder scored the Broncos' fourth and final goal off an assist from Wayne Kao in the 70th minute. Rosales made five saves in goal for the Warriors to bring his season total to 30.

The Warriors go on the road next weekend for the first time in CCAA play to take on North rivals Cal State Monterey Bay and San Francisco State. The team heads to Seaside on Friday for a 3 p.m. start against the Otters, and will travel to San Francisco for another 3 p.m. start on Sunday.
