TURLOCK — The Cal State Stanislaus Women's Basketball team fixed one recurring problem by scoring early, however, a dry spell during a five-minute period in the first half set them back as the Warriors dropped a 64-49 decision to Cal State Dominguez Hills.
Four CSUDH Toros scored in double figures as the visitors won their fourth straight conference game to improve to 10-5 overall and 5-3 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.
Gwendolyn Page had 16 points and five rebounds to lead the Warriors as Cal State Stanislaus dropped to 8-7 overall and 3-5 in the CCAA.
Katie Busi added 13 points after being held to two points in the first half. Busi also led the team with six rebounds and two blocked-shots.
Jeanette Rowe also had seven points.
The Warriors had been starting slow in games before rallying for victories, especially here in Warrior Arena. Saturday night, however, they scored early — with a 7-3 lead in the first three minutes. Stanislaus would lead by six, 12-6, at 9:11 — but went cold at that point. Cal State Dominguez Hills went on a 17-0 run for a 23-12 advantage at 4:42.
The Toros would take control from that point on, maintaining a double-figure advantage the rest of the way. Cal State Dominguez Hills led by 15, 42-27, at 15:21. CSUDH was led by Neka Mixo and Kayla Montalvo each with 14 points. Barbara Houston added 12 and Whitney Gantt chipped in 10.
The Warriors will play host to Chico State Wednesday night at 5:30 p.m.
