No. 21 UC San Diego trips Stanislaus women

LA JOLLA -- The Cal State Stanislaus Warriors could not survive a good shooting night as they suffered a 73-62 loss to No. 21 UC San Diego Friday night in the RIMAC.

Christin Gowan led the Warriors in scoring for the first time this season with 13 points on a 3-for-5 shooting night. Gowan, a career 92 percent free throw shooter, was also 6-for-8 from the charity stripe.

Cal State Stanislaus fell below .500 for the first time this season and is now 8-9 overall and 3-7 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.

Gwendolyn Page had another double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Lysandra Williams had 11 points. Page was 7-for-9 from the foul line.

UC San Diego improved to a CCAA-best 9-0 in conference play and 16-2 overall. The Tritons were led by Michelle Osier with 26 points and seven rebounds. Osier is the CCAA's leading scorer.

Cal State Stanislaus shot 41.5 percent for the game, which is better than UCSD (39 percent). The Warriors shot 42.3 percent in the first half. The Warriors, however, turn the ball over 20 times. The UCSD turned those errors into 23 points.

UC San Diego led 38-28 at halftime.

Cal State Stanislaus is off until next Friday when it hosts Cal State Monterey Bay at 5:30 p.m.
