SAN BERNARDINO -- Cal State Stanislaus has a new leader in single-season goals scored, and there's still four games left on the schedule. With a goal Sunday before halftime that tied the score at 1-1, junior forward Victor Regalado sealed his 2009 campaign as one of the best offensive showings ever by a Warrior.

Regalado's goal, his 10th of the season, was all the offense the Warriors could muster on Sunday, as they fell, 2-1, to the Cal State San Bernardino Coyotes. The Warriors are now 8-6-1 overall on the season and 5-6-1 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. Cal State San Bernardino improves to 12-3-1 overall and 8-3-1 in the CCAA.

Regalado scored just 50 seconds before halftime to knot the scorer at one apiece heading into the locker rooms. Terry Gross collected a ball along the end line and lofted it in front of the goal where Regalado outleaped Cal State San Bernardino goalkeeper Arath DeLaRoach to head the ball into the net.

"Our guys played well for it being our second game (of the weekend), but you could tell it was the second game because our level of concentration was not there," said Warriors head coach Dana Taylor.

Regalado is now the Division II single-season record holder at Cal State Stanislaus for goals scored with 10, surpassing former Warrior and current Modesto Junior College men's soccer head coach Joe Michelena, who scored nine goals in 1999.

Regalado now has 21 points this season (10 goals, one assist), putting him second on the Warriors' single-season record list for points behind Michelena's 23 points in 1999. Regalado's 10 goals puts him at fifth on the career goals scored list behind record-holder Dennis Wolfe, who scored 14 goals in his time at Cal State Stanislaus. Regalado's 21 points are tied for ninth on the career points list with Juan Ocegueda (2000-03) and Benito Francisco (2000-01).

The Coyotes struck first in the 31st minute when defender Ryan Larson's header off a corner kick by midfielder Jeremiah Marquez was deflected into the net for a 1-0 Coyotes lead. Regalado's goal 14 minutes later would make it 1-1.

The Coyotes took the lead for good in the 74th minute when Albert Cabrera collected a pass from Obi Agwu above the 18-yard-line and broke away from two defenders to hit a low volley inside the far post for the game-winner.

Javier Rosales had six saves in goal for the Warriors.

"We're looking forward to playing at home where we've had some success and having our fan base support us," Taylor said.

The Warriors return Friday for their final homestand of the season. They will host Humboldt State at 7 p.m. at Warrior Stadium
