SAN FRANCISCO — The Warriors' team bus may have broken down on the way to San Francisco for Sunday's match, but the Cal State Stanislaus offense did not.

The Warriors out-played host San Francisco State and came away with a 1-1 tie in the regular season finale at Cox Stadium.

Victor Regalado scored his CCAA-leading 13th goal of the year as the Warriors completed their best regular season since joining the California Collegiate Athletic Association with 11-6-2 overall, 8-6-2 conference records.

"The guys did a great job over coming a few obstacles, I am proud of the way they batted throughout the day from the start of the day at 6:30 in the morning, having the bus trouble, keeping composure and making game time," CSUS head coach Dana Taylor said.

Regalado, a conference most valuable player candidate, scored 13 goals with two assists for 28 points in 2009. His 13 goals and 28 points are the most by any Warrior during the CCAA era.

The Stanislaus men came off the bus firing and out-shot the Gators 12-3 in the opening half. In the end, the Warriors out-shot SFSU 23-10.

San Francisco State struck first on a Robert Maeda score in the 29th minute for a 1-0 lead, but the Warriors responded right away. In the 36th minute Regalado sent in the equalizer after tapping in a three-yard shot on the left side after picking up a loose ball.

The score would remain tied through regulation play with the Warriors missing on a few scoring opportunities.

"We also had two starters missing in the back line. Jio (Santana) was sick and he played through that. We had a lot of guys stepping up today and they battled," Taylor said.

Former Warrior Mike McNeill, now a goalkeeper for San Francisco State, was credited with 11 saves with the Gators earning a team save.

Stanislaus goalie Javier Rosales had one save as SF State only had two shots on goal.

En route to San Francisco for the matches this morning, the chartered bus carrying both the men's and women's soccer teams broke down. A second bus was sent to take the teams to their destination, but the start times were delayed by nearly an hour.
