Katie Busi scored 19 points and pulled 12 rebounds and
Christin Gowan had 16 points as the duo led the Cal State Stanislaus women's basketball team to its first win of 2009-10.
The Warriors, at the Thanksgiving Classic hosted by Northwest Nazarene, defeated Central Washington, 69-59, on Saturday.
Stanislaus, which improved to 1-1 on the season, opens California Collegiate Athletic Association play next weekend on the road. CWU dropped to 0-4 on the season.
Busi recorded her second consecutive double-double of the young season by shooting 9 for 12 from the field. She also grabbed 10 defensive rebounds and had two blocked shots. Gowan was red-hot from long distance, hitting 4 of 5 three-point attempts. Gowan also had eight assists and two steals.
Cal State Stanislaus held the Wildcats to just 29 percent shooting in the first half to open up a 33-25 lead at break.
Samantha Bertomen converted on a pair of free throws in the final second of the first half that gave the Warriors their biggest lead at 11 before CWU's Brooke Hernandez hit a three at the buzzer for the halftime score.
The Warriors remained hot both offensively and defensively in the second half and opened up a 17-point lead on a pair of
Bianca Padilla free throws at 3:13 to make it 67-50.
Despite being held without a field goal for two minutes, the Warriors held back the Wildcats' 9-2 run for the win.
Jeanette Rowe chipped in 12 and
Andreanna Marshall added nine for the Warriors. Bertomen finished with five points and pulled eight rebounds.
Central Washington was led by Sophie Russell who had 17 points.
