CARSON -- Despite a strong effort from two of its stars, the Cal State Stanislaus women's basketball team couldn't recover from another low-scoring game as host Cal State Dominguez Hills defeated the Warriors, 60-46, Friday night.
Katie Busi had 18 points and eight rebounds and
Lysandra Williams scored 16 but the Warriors dropped the CCAA game to fall to 12-12 overall and 7-10 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.
The Warriors, however, remains tied for sixth place with Cal State San Bernardino with three conference games remaining.
Cal State Dominguez Hills (16-8, 11-6 CCAA) was led by Aujanee Baldwin with 12 points and Ennisha Kyles had 10 points and 13 rebounds.
The Warriors led briefly early in the first half and had a four-point lead 13 minutes into the game. But a 20-5 run by the Toros closed out the first to give CSUDH a 34-22 lead it never relinquish.
The Toros had their biggest lead after a Whitney Gantt free throw at 10:31 in the second half, which gave them a 18-point, 47-29 advantage.
Cal State Stanislaus will face Cal State L.A., which lost to Chico State, 59-49, Friday night. The Golden Eagles are in last place at 3-14 in the CCAA (4-20 overall).
