ARCATA – Four players scored in double figures, led by senior Andrea Bobic's season-high 19 points, as the Humboldt State women's basketball team shut down the Warriors of Cal State Stanislaus 70-46 on Saturday night in Lumberjack Arena.
The win improves the Lumberjacks' record to 10-4 overall, 8-2 in California Collegiate Athletic Association action. CSUS is now 2-10 on the season and 1-7 in conference play.
For the Warriors,
Katie Busi led the team with 23 points and nine rebounds.
Andreanna Marshall and
Christin Gowan each had eight points.
In addition to Bobic's scoring, she led the team with seven rebounds. Brittney Taylor had 17 points, six boards and five assists. Paige Peterson added 13 points, six rebounds and dished out six assists and Bree Halsey chipped in 10 points.
CSU Stanislaus cut the lead to five with 4:57 to go in the half 29-24, but a 14-2 run to end the first period gave HSU a 42-26 lead at the break.
The Lumberjacks held the Warriors to 31 percent shooting in the first half and forced 14 turnovers while hitting 53 percent of their own shots including 4-of-8 from behind the arc.
In the second half the Jacks increased their lead to as much as 24 points and used more stifling defense to secure the win. HSU held Cal State Stanislaus to 21 percent shooting in the second half and 26 percent for the game.
