TURLOCK -- Christin Gowan netted a career-high with 21 points, but Cal State Monterey Bay got 25 points from the free throw line en route to a 64-52 win over Cal State Stanislaus at Warrior Arena Saturday night.

Gowan, who nailed three consecutive long three-pointers to start the game, finished with 21 points on 5 of 8 shooting. She was 4 for 5 from behind the arch and also converted on 7 of 10 free throws for the career night.

The Warriors ended a two-game winning streak and dropped to 5-12 overall and 4-9 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.

Veronica Williams led the Otters with 19 points and Holly Holcome added 14 points off the bench as CSUMB improved to 12-5 overall and 8-5 in the CCAA.

Monterey Bay went to the line often, attempting 37 free throws from 31 Warrior fouls. CSUMB shot 67.6 percent from the charity stripe (25-for-37). On the flip side, the Warriors went 14-for-20 from the line, most of them coming late in the second half.

With Katie Busi playing hurt with a right knee hyper-extension, the Warriors looked to Gowan for offense and the junior guard responded early hitting her first three three-point tries from well beyond the three-point arch. Busi was limited to 10 total minutes of play before fouling out.

Aside from Gowan, the other CSUS starters shot a combined 3-for-24 from the floor. Jeanette Rowe scored seven points off the bench and Alishea Kelly chipped in six.

For the Otters, Julie Heurung had 13 rebounds and Michelle Santizo scored 11 points. Williams was 7-for-7 from the free throw line.
