Chico – The Cal State Stanislaus women's basketball team fell short with a 59-74 loss to the #21 Chico State Wildcats in their first California Collegiate Athletic Association contest this season.
Christin Gowan led the Warriors with 17 points. Gowan was 3 for 6 from the three point line and 4 for 5 on the foul line.
In the first half the Wildcats played a more accurate game as they shot 48 percent from the floor, the Warriors only shooting 30 percent. Stanislaus started the second half of play down 22 points with a score of 48-26. The closest the Warriors were able to get to #21 Chico was 12 points, the first time being at 12:17 with a score of 53-41.
Defensively, Lauren Godde led with eight rebounds, her season and career high with the Warriors. Busi followed closely with six rebounds and Gowan had 5 rebounds.
There were four players for Chico State that recorded double digit points. Pauline Ferrall led the Wildcats with 16 points. Natasha Smith and Analise Riezebos each had 15 points. Molly Collins banked 10 points. Leading the Wildcats defensively was Kristin Marquardt with 12 rebounds.
The Warriors will face off for the second and final time this season Saturday at Fitzpatrick Arena at 2 p.m.
