TURLOCK -- Make it three in a row for the Cal State Stanislaus women's basketball team as the Warriors defeated Sonoma State, 58-51, in their home finale Saturday night.

Alishea Kelly scored 15 points, including 8-for-8 from the free throw line, as the Warriors won their third consecutive game and improved to 8-16 overall and 7-13 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.

The Warriors are still in the hunt for a spot in the conference tournament as they are two games out of eighth place behind Cal State Dominguez Hills with two games to play. Stanislaus will travel to Cal State L.A. and Cal State Dominguez Hills next weekend.

Sonoma State (10-15, 8-12 CCAA) was led by Christy Shreve with 12 points and seven rebounds.

An evenly matched up game on senior night at Warrior Arena ended up in favor of the Warriors as they made the final push and nailed free throws.

After Sonoma State cut the Stanislaus lead down to one with a free throw by Jaclyn Bisordi, Samantha Bertomen and Kellly each made a pair of free throws for a five-point lead with :47 left to play. Kelly would make six more free throws in the game's final seconds to seal the deal.

The teams were dead even at the break at 21-21 but Sonoma State came out in charge and had a six-point, 35-29 lead at 13:14. That was the biggest lead either team had since a CSUS 7-point advantage early in the first half at 11-4.

The game saw it's sixth tie at 37-37 with 9:51 to play on a Nadia Williams layup for Sonoma State. However, Warrior junior guard Christin Gowan nailed a three-pointer to give Stanislaus the lead for good.

Gowan finished with 12 points following a career night when she netted 24 in the upset win over Humboldt State Friday. Katie Busi had eight points and 10 rebounds while Bertomen finished with nine points and seven rebounds.
