POMONA -- Reyana Colston, the conference's third-best scorer, hurt the Warriors again as she scored 27 points to help the Cal Poly Pomona Broncos defeat Cal State Stanislaus, 65-44, Saturday night.
Alishea Kelly led the Warriors for the second straight night, this time with 16 points, but the Warriors dropped their third in-a-row to fall to 5-14, 4-11 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.
Colston, who scored 20 points on in CPP's 58-52 win over Stanislaus on Jan. 2 at Warrior Arena, was 9-for-9 from the line and shot 9 of 13 from the floor Saturday night. Cal Poly Pomona improved to 16-4 overall and 13-3 in the CCAA. Colston averages 16.6 points per game.
The Broncos keep pace with front-runner UC San Diego and remain a game back of the Tritons in the CCAA standings.
Kelly also had five rebounds and was 5-for-7 from the free throw line. Friday night at Cal State San Bernardino, the senior forward had 23 points.
Katie Busi, who was in foul trouble, was limited to six points and six rebounds, which are the same stats line for
Andreanna Marshall. As a team, the Warriors shot 27.3 percent.
The Warriors trailed 39-16 at the break and never got inside the 20-point deficit mark during the second half.
Stephisha Walton had a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds for Pomona.
The Warriors' week won't get much easier as they will have a short turnaround as they travel to Chico State on Tuesday before hosting a pair of home games next weekend.
