POMONA — The Cal State Stanislaus volleyball team lost a five-set match for the first time this season as Cal Poly Pomona rallied from down 2-1 to win, 25-23, 19-25, 21-25, 25-17, 15-10, Saturday night at Kellogg Gym.
After dropping the first set, the Warriors won two straight to take a 2-1 lead, however, Cal Poly Pomona rallied late. Cal State Stanislaus dropped to 9-10 overall and 5-10 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. The Warriors were 3-0 prior to Saturday night in five-set matches.
Cal Poly Pomona improved to 10-11 overall and 7-9 in the CCAA. The teams split the season series, each winning the home match.

Lianne Vicchio had another huge night. Vicchio put-away 23 kills (on 53 tries with fiver errors). She also had 18 digs for another double-double. It was the third time this season she had 20-plus kills. She notched 28 kills on Oct. 8 at Cal State Dominguez Hills and had 23 on Oct. 1 versus Cal State Monterey Bay.
Vicchio now has 1,307 career kills. She is now just 95 kills shy of setting a new school record in career kills (Sarah Barnett, 1999-2002).
Setter
Jessica Lehner also had another big night with 52 assists — the third time this season she had that tally with her season-best a 53-assist night at Humboldt State on Sept. 9.
Also chipping in in losing effort were
Jennifer Marsh with 12 kills and
Eva Chafeh had 10.
As a team, the Warriors had a solid hitting percentage of .256. However, Cal Poly Pomona took the match mainly with its blocking game as the Broncos recorded 14 total blocks to the Warriors' four. Pomona also had 12 service aces.
Pomona used a balanced attack as four different Broncos had 10 or more kills and two different setters split time.
