TURLOCK — Sending the seniors out in style, the Cal State Stanislaus men's soccer team blew out Cal State East Bay, 3-0, on Sunday in the Warriors' final home match.

Daniel Kuczynski scored his team-leading sixth goal of the season and goals by Trevor Grimbleby and Arturo Pulido to lift the Warriors. Cal State Stanislaus improved to 10-4-1 overall and 8-5-1 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.

The 10-win season is the Warriors' third 10-win season since 2006. The Warriors also secured the program's third consecutive winning season under head coach Dana Taylor.

Cal State East Bay falls to 2-14 overall and 1-13 in the CCAA.

Cal State Stanislaus is now third in the CCAA North with 25 points. The Warriors are now four points behind new leader Chico State (beat CSUMB 3-1 on Sunday). Sonoma State (lost at UC San Diego, 2-1) is second with 26 points.

To win the CCAA North, the Warrior men will have to win both games and Chico State would have to at-best loose once and tie once next weekend.

Kuczynski got the Warriors on the board first in the 23rd minute when he drew out CSUEB goalkeeper Bryce Bookhamer.  Kuczynski scored his team-leading sixth goal of the year by finishing the play to the right post.

Just two minutes later, at 24:56, Grimbleby headed in a Larry Hernandez corner kick to make it 2-0.

Then in the second half, at 58:08, senior Arturo Pulido — one of eight seniors playing in their final regular season home match — knocked in a free kick for the 3-0 final count.

Warrior starting goalkeeper Bill Hambelton was replaced in the 23rd minute after he injured his back. He got tangled up with East Bay players and flipped over the back of one of them.

Senior Javier Rosales played the final 68 minutes and picked up two saves. His biggest save came in the 87th minute when he stopped a Robbin Patton penalty kick attempt to keep the Pioneers scoreless.

Prior to the match eight Warrior seniors — Juan Alvarez, Manny Avila, TJ Grewal, Grimbleby, Hambelton, Pulido, Rosales and Jose Velazquez — were recognized in a pregame ceremony as they appeared in their final regular season home match.

The Warriors will finish the regular season with a pair of road games at Sonoma State on Friday and Humboldt State on Sunday.
