TURLOCK — The Cal State Stanislaus women's basketball team stunned the top team in the West Region with a 83-80 win over Cal Poly Pomona on senior night. The Warriors did it without their two-time All-CCAA star Katie Busi.

Senior Andreanna Marshall completes an amazing weekend with 25 more points to lead the Warriors. After a weekend sweep of the SoCal Inland Empire teams, Cal State Stanislaus is now in a two-way tie for fifth at 11-9 in the CCAA and 13-11 overall.

Christin Gowan notched another double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. She also had six assists bring her career total to 100. Also contributed in the balance attack was Theresa Henderson, who came off the bench for 14 points and six rebounds. Jamiez Terrell added 13 and senior Jeanette Rowe chipped in 12.

"I am really proud of our team. Everyone contributed and everyone came to play tonight," head coach Sharon Turner said. "Gowan and Marshall played out of their minds this weekend and were a huge part of our wins."

CCAA scoring leader Reyana Colson continued to put up points with 35 on 12 of 30 shooting. She also made 11 of 13 free throws and pulled eight rebounds. Cal Poly Pomona, however, falls to 20-3 and 17-2 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.

The Warrior victory also ended a 14-game winning streak by the Broncos over Cal State Stanislaus since the 2002-03 season.

Senior forward Busi missed the chance to play her final home game as a Warrior due to a sprained ankle suffered Friday night versus Cal State San Bernardino.

Her teammates picked her up. The Warriors started the game nailing seven straight shots and was nine for their first 11. But Stanislaus wasn't able to mount much of a lead against the Broncos as Cal Poly Pomona went to the line early and often.

Cal Poly Pomona converted on 14 of 15 free throw tries in the first half before ending the game 27-for-31 for 87.1 percent due to 23 fouls called against the Warriors.

The Warriors had an eight-point lead as late as 8:55 in the second half, but an 11-2 CPP run turned that into a 70-69 Pomona advantage. Stanislaus responded with Henderson and Terrell combined to score six unanswered points.

Colson again brought her team back, and her layup with 1:51 to go once again made it an one-point contest, 79-78, in favor of the Warriors. After the teams traded baskets, Gowan finally put away the Broncos with a jumper with six seconds remaining.

Marshall, who scored a career-high 31 points in Friday's win over CSU San Bernardino, was 10-for-20 Saturday night. She also had three assists and two steals.

The Warriors shot 50.8 percent for the game, 32-for-63 while Pomona shot just 37.7 percent (26 of 69). Megan Ford chipped in 17 points for the Broncos.

Cal State Stanislaus, already clinched a CCAA tournament berth, will finish the regular season on the road next weekend. Thursday's game is at San Francisco State before a matchup against first place Cal State Monterey Bay Friday.
