TURLOCK — The queen of scoring was at it again.
Theresa Henderson had another career-high in scoring as she led the Warriors over Cal State Dominguez Hills, 57-53, Saturday night.
Henderson's effort, now a typical night, this time resulted in 28 more points for her sixth straight 20-plus point game (23 or more, in fact). She also pulled 11 rebounds for her seventh consecutive double-double.
With the win, the Warriors improved to 5-9 overall and 2-8 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. Cal State Dominguez Hills fell to 2-15 and 1-9 in CCAA play.
Henderson, who scored 25 points in Friday's loss to Cal State L.A., now averages 21.2 points per game. She has been leading the conference in scoring all season and entered the week four points ahead of UC San Diego's Chelsea Carlise.
The Warriors overcame a poor shooting first half, largely because the Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros also struggled from the floor. Stanislaus started the game 2-for its 14 attempts while CSUDH made just two of its 17 tries. The game was tied at 5-5 six minutes in.
Things did pick up a little in the half as the teams were even at 25-25 at the break.
Cal State Dominguez Hills lead by six early in the second half on a three-pointer by Cwynnci Lobaugh, but the Warriors stay close.
Henderson, who scored 14 points in each half, got some help in the second half and the Warriors surged on and eventually took over the game on a
Lauren Godde layup at 8:51 left. Godde's bucket had followed a
Rosa Tirado three-pointer and a
Jameiz Terrell score for a little 7-0 Warrior run.
The Stanislaus lead was as large as six points with about three minutes left after a pair of Henderson free throws.
Erin Godde crashed the boards in the final minute and made a pair of free throws to help seal the win.
Henderson ended up 8 of 19 from the field and made 12 free throws. Lauren Godden finished with 13 points and six rebounds. Terrell finished with nine points, six rebounds and four assists.
Lyndsay Heard had 12 points and Lobaugh finished with 10 to lead the Toros.
