Box Score TURLOCK - Rough and tumble play couldn't deter the Warrior's fight for the win.
A solo goal from defender
Kyle Cadigan nabbed the win for the Warriors over the San Francisco State Gators on Friday night at Warrior Stadium.
Tonight's goal was Cadigan's second of the season, with his first being scored in the 2-1 victory over Cal State Dominguez Hills on Sept. 7.
"As a defender, I don't get as many shots as it is," Cadigan said. "If I get the chance to put one away, it feels absolutely ecstatic, especially against a team we were having a hard time against in the first half. To come back and win is amazing."
The win puts the Warrior men's record at 7-2-2 (5-2-2 CCAA). If the Warriors win against Cal Poly Pomona on Sunday, the team will advance to a four-match winning streak, which will be the longest win-streak in six plus years. The Warriors have won four straight only one since 1998, when they did it in 2006.
The Gators (1-9-3, 0-7-3 CCAA) maintained the upper hand throughout the first half, with seven shots to Stanislaus' four. Goalkeeper
Clint Long stayed calm and collected, stopping every Gator drive and shot.
Nolan Holdridge,
Carlos Gavino,
Christian Madrigal,
Josue Barajas, and
Paul Oei all took shots during the game. Midfielder Juan O'Dell came very close to scoring a goal off a header that was narrowly stopped by Gator's goalie Anthony Rodriquez.
Cadigan's goal proved to be a boost from the men, as the Warriors controlled the ball for the rest of the game.
"We needed these three points," Cadigan said. "If anything less had occured we might not have made it into the playoffs."
The Warrior men will play the Cal Poly Pomona Broncos at Warrior Stadium on Sunday at 11:30 a.m.
