HAYWARD — Setting out to pick up two road victories this week, the Cal State Stanislaus men's soccer team managed to do exactly that with another blanking of its opponents on Sunday.

The Warriors shutout Cal State East Bay in a physical contest at Pioneer Stadium in a 1-0 win. Jesse Horta's goal in the 19th minute on another set play proved to be the only offense needed for Stanislaus, which improves to 6-2-2 overall and 4-2-2 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.

With Friday's 2-0 win at Cal State Monterey Bay, the Warriors earned two conference wins on the road with two straight shutouts behind the stellar play of their defense and goalkeeper Clint Long.

The Warriors allowed just six shots by the Pioneers (2-7-2, 1-6-2 CCAA) with Long picking up two more saves. Long continues to lead the CCAA in saves and now has four shutouts on the year.

The match started without much action for the first 15 minutes, until Horta got Stanislaus on the board on a shot from just seven yards out at 18:15. This followed a CSUEB yellow card, one of five for the Pioneers in the contest.

The second half became really physical with East Bay picking up four yellow cards to the Warriors' one. In all, Stanislaus was called on 20 fouls to the Pioneer's 18.

The Warriors remain undefeated against the Pioneers since Cal State East Bay joined the CCAA. Stanislaus now leads the series 5-0-2. The teams played to a 0-0 draw back on Sept. 14 in Turlock.
