This Week
After a busy Thanksgiving week, the Warriors are home for a pair as they continue conference play. For the new Warriors this is their first time experiencing a CCAA back-to-back weekend.
This Week's Opponents
Humboldt State LUMBERJACKS (4-2, 1-0 CCAA)
Series Notes: Humboldt State won twice in 2011-12 to even the series record at 29-29. During the CCAA era, in 12 games, HSU leads 10-2 with the last Stanislaus win on Dec. 4, 2010 (81-78).
Last Time We Met... was on Jan. 27 in Turlock. Kayla Williams scored 20 to lead Humboldt State over the Warriors, 82-63 …
Lauren Godde had 21 points and 13 rebounds while
Jameiz Terrell added 19 to lead Cal State Stanislaus.
About the Lumberjacks: The Lumberjacks defeated Cal Poly Pomona on Saturday in a low scoring affair, 48-45, in Arcata … Lisa Petty averages 17 points and 7.3 rebounds a game. She has scored 20 or more points in each of the last three games. Petty also has 20 assists and 15 steals to her totals.
Cal Poly Pomona BRONCOS (1-2, 1-1 CCAA)
Series Notes: Cal Poly Pomona improved to 31-7 against the Warriors after sweeping the series last year. The Broncos are now 24-4 in CCAA play against the Warriors. The Warriors, however, had three of those wins here in Turlock with the most recent on Feb. 19, 2011 (83-80).
Last Time We Met... was on Feb. 4 in Turlock in a 92-51 Cal Poly Pomona win … Ariel Marsh led the Broncos with 22 points …
Rosa Tirado was the Warriors' top scorer with 13 points.
About the Broncos: Cal Poly Pomona is led by two players -- Ashley Boggs and J.J. Judge -- with 12.3 points per game. Judge is 13 for 13 from the line … Boggs also averages 9.7 rebounds per contest. The Broncos lost at Humboldt State, 48-45, last Saturday.

Friendly, But Not Kind Trip To the North
The Simon Fraser personnel were kind to the Warriors but when it came down to basketball, the highly ranked Clan were too powerful for the Warriors to handle. In a pair of contests, the 17th ranked Clan won by an average margin of 36.5 points.
Go-to Lauren Godde
Lauren Godde has supplied nearly 37 percent of the Stanislaus offense. In four games, she's scored 85 of the team's 231 points. Godde is averaging a CCAA-best 21.3 points per game after opening the season with a 39-point out-burst at Dominican. She is averaging a team-best 6.0 rebounds per game. Godde has also accounted for half of the team's made free throws (21 of 42).
More On Those 39 Points
Lauren Godde's 39-point game on Nov. 17 at Dominican was the most scored by a Warrior since March 7, 2003, when Shannon Donnelly dropped 41 against Cal Poly Pomona. Godde did set a new team record for points scored in a road game, previously set by Donnelly with 36 points on March 14, 2003, against Cal State Bakersfield in Seattle (NCAA Championship West Region game).
Winters Scores 18
For the Warriors to be successful offensively, they will need more than
Lauren Godde to score and
Natalie Winters show the ability to do so in last Saturday's game. Winters went 7-for-15 with three three-pointers to finish with 18 points for her career best effort. Winters also tied a team-best with five rebounds that night.
Supportive Crowd for New Warriors
In the team's home opener against Chico State on Nov. 20, the Warriors drew more fans than they did in any home game since the 2007 finale (621, March 3, 2007). The attendance for the 2012 opener was 526, on a Tuesday.
Get Out In Front
A new tactic for the Warriors could be to not play from behind and get out in front early. Thus far this season, Stanislaus has only led by as many as three points (17-14, 12:16 left in first half on Nov. 23 at Simon Fraser).
Lets Stay Close
The Warriors will have to try and cut down on the deficit early to avoid more defeats with large margins. In the last three games, the Warriors have lost by an average margin of 36.3 points after a narrow 2-point lost to start the season in San Rafael.
Turn the Beat Around
Cal State Stanislaus has not open the season 0-5 since the start of the 2006-07 season. The Warriors have not started 0-6 during the CCAA era.
No Love in the CCAA Poll
Cal State Stanislaus women's basketball did not receive much love in the coaches preseason poll as the Warriors were picked to finish 12th out of 12 teams. With 14 points in the tally, that meant not every head coach pick the Warriors to finish last. Cal State Monterey Bay was the favor to win the CCAA in 2012-13.
Head Coach Wayman Strickland
Wayman Strickland began his post at Cal State Stanislaus in August of 2012 after serving as an assistant coach at San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton between 2009 and 2012. Prior to his stint at Delta College, Strickland was the varsity girls coach (2007-09) and varsity boys assistant coach (2002-07) at Stockton's Edison High School. Strickland spent nine years as a professional player in Europe and Asia and was a four-year starter at the University of San Diego from 1988 to 1992, when he amassed 1,040 career points. He was a prep star at San Francisco's Archbishop Riordan High School, where he was the 1988 San Francisco Bay Area player of the year.
Fitzpatrick Arena
Warrior Arena was renamed Ed & Bertha Fitzpatrick Arena at the start the 2010-11 season. The arena is named for Ed and Bertha Fitzpatrick, owners of Valley Lexus/Valley BMW in Modesto and other car dealerships in the Bay Area. The Fitzpatricks have been long-time supporters of CSU Stanislaus. The gym has been named Warrior Arena since 1999, 21 years after it was built.
CCAA Basketball Championships
The 2012-13 CCAA Men's & Women's Basketball Championship tournament will be held at the beginning of March. Eight teams qualify for the event with first round games on campus site March 5. The four winners will advance to the semifinals and finals, March 8-9, in Ontario. The winner of the tournament would receive the automatic bid for the NCAA tournament.
