Box Score TURLOCK — It sure wasn't lack of great efforts by the Warriors Friday as the final 3-0 loss to San Francisco State would indicate.
Unable to hold off strong SF State rallies and comebacks, Cal State Stanislaus dropped a competitive match against the Gators in the 25-19, 25-21, 25-22 contest.
The Warriors, with four different players with at least five or more kills, fell to 4-7 overall and 1-2 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.
San Francisco State improved to 8-2 overall and 3-0 in CCAA play. The Gators were led by Kelly Ostello with 14 kills and the team blocked seven shots with 14 assisted.
Stanislaus would lead in all three sets, including jumping out to a 10-5 lead in the first before the momentum shifted with a 6-1 SFSU run. In the third, the Warriors led 10-4 and again at 16-10 on blocks by
Jennifer Marsh and
Jordan Harris. But that lead also faded away when the Gators got even at 21-21 before running off four of the final five points for the win.
In the end,
Eva Chafeh led Stanislaus with eight kills,
Andrea Fett had seven, Marsh with six and
Melissa Bishop put-away five.
Ashley Pittman had a match-best 16 digs out of the team's 45 total. SF State had 47 digs as a group.
No. 20 ranked Sonoma State comes into town on Saturday for another CCAA match-up Saturday night. The Seawolves (8-3, 2-1 CCAA) lost at No. 22 Chico State in four Friday night.
