Series Notes vs. Cal State Dominguez Hills: The Warriors beat the Toros for the first time during CCAA play last season with a 1-0 win on Sept. 18, 2011. Stanislaus is looking for its first win over CSUDH at home in its 10th try on Friday. CSUDH is 15-1-1 against the Warriors since 1998.
Series Notes vs. Cal State L.A.: Cal State L.A. ended the Warriors' season last year at the CCAA Championship semifinal match with a 2-1 score. The Warriors also lost to L.A. 2-1 in overtime at Los Angeles. The Golden Eagles lead the series 16-3-1.
Tops CCAA Team in the Region: The Warriors are ranked No. 5 in this week's NSCAA/Continental Tire Coaches West Region poll. Stanislaus is the top ranked CCAA team on the list before two GNAC and two PacWest programs.
Impressive Home Numbers: Talk about defending the home pitch. The Warrior men are an impressive 24-5-2 since Warrior Stadium opened in 2009. They have recorded eight home victories per season overall and are 18-3-1 during CCAA play.
Holdridge's Week: Senior
Nolan Holdridge had a pretty good start. As a defender, Holdridge has assisted on two scores, both from corner kicks, and scored a goal during the first week. He assisted on the first goal of the year last Thursday and gave the Warriors a 1-0 lead on Saturday.
Top Assists Leader: With two assists,
Nolan Holdridge became Cal State Stanislaus' top career assists leader, surpassing both Matt Johnson (2005-08) and Juan Ocegueda (2000-03). Holdridge now has 12, and counting.
Another Solid Start: The Warriors has started undefeated for the fourth consecutive season with their perfect 2-0 opening week. The Warriors began last season 3-0, were 3-0-2 to start 2010 and went 3-0 to open the 2009 season.
About Cal State Dominguez Hills (0-1-1, 0-0-0 CCAA): The Toros opened with a 1-1 tie at home versus Azusa Pacific and lost 1-0 at Cal Baptist. Joe Vaca scored the team's only goal so far. Trey Mitchell played 155 minutes at GK with a 0.58 GAA. Juan Quiroz played the other 45 minutes. Former Warrior Jio Santana is suiting up for the Toros this year. He assisted on the Vaca goal.
About Cal State L.A. (1-1-0, 0-0-0 CCAA): Cal State L.A. lost at Dixie State 2-1 last Thursday before taking a 2-1 decision against Northwest Nazarene (in St. George, Utah) on Saturday. The Golden Eagles are led by Antti Arvola (1 goal, 2 assists) and Waleed Cassis at the net (1.50 GAA). L.A. is ranked No. 7 in the West Region.
