Box Score TURLOCK -- Unable to turn away the Sonoma State Seawolves, the Cal State Stanislaus men's soccer team ended a three-match winning streak as they lost, 2-1, on Sunday.
The defending CCAA Champion Warriors will not have a chance to repeat as the conference winners as they have been eliminated from the postseason. The Warriors fell to 7-8-1 overall and 6-8-0 in the CCAA North.
Sonoma State, 8-4-4, 7-4-3 CCAA, takes over first place in the North division with 24 points. Cal State Monterey Bay, which lost at UC San Diego 2-1 on Sunday, has 23 points.
The Warriors fell six points behind leader SSU with two matchest o play but the Seawolves hold the head-to-head tiebreak having now defeated Stanislaus twice this season.
Carlos Gavino gave the Warriors a 1-0 lead in the first half on Sunday on a beautiful corner kick score. He hooked the kick from the corner flag into the net past SSU goalkeeper Beau Diaz at 32:47.
Sonoma State even the score on a penalty kick conversation by Taylor Varnadore in the 50th minute. Varnadore scored again at 76:10 on a shot that hit the cross bar but got the SSU bounce for the 2-1 advantage.
The Seawolves out-shot the Warriors, 15-6, including a 11-0 second half advantage.

The Warriors had enter Sunday's match with three straight wins, on the road, to remain in contention for a tournament berth.
The Warriors will be at home again for two more home contests next weekend to finish off the regular season. They host Humboldt State on Friday and Cal State East Bay on Sunday.
