11/23/2013 10:02:00 PM

Box Score TURLOCK — With high hopes of ending the season on a high note and to send senior Tiffany Isel off with a win, the Warriors volleyball team was not able to do so in a straight-set loss to Humboldt State Saturday night.

Strong defensive play and the balanced attack of three hitters were the Lumberjacks' keys to succes as they end their year with the 25-22, 25-21, 27-25 win. Four Lumberjacks had double-digits in digs and three had double figures in kills. HSU ends its season 12-17 and 7-15 in the CCAA.

For Stanislaus, it was the first time it has lost to Humboldt State here at home in five seasons.

On senior night, the mostly-underclassmen Warriors did put up a great fight as they had done in every match this season. Isel was the only senior on a squad full of freshmen and sophomores.

It was freshmen Blair Ehrlich once again leading the team with 10 kills while redshirt freshman Jocelyn Cervantes also put-away 10. Freshman libero Sarah Crowl recorded a match-best 20 digs and rookie setter Hannah Green had 30 assists, eight digs and three block assists. Paige Walker, another freshman, had 13 digs and sophomore Jordan Harris chipped in six kills.

But, the Lumberjacks out-dug the Warriors, 77-67 as a pair of Jacks had 17 digs and a third with 16 digs. HSU also had another player with 14 digs. Setter Sam Siebert, the only senior on that team, had 41 assists to go with 17 digs. Offensively, HSU was led by Kaitlyn Dunaway's 16 kills (she also had 16 digs).

With 375 kills this season, Ehrlich will finish in the single seaso top five list for Stanislaus. Crowl will finish atop of the CCAA leaderboard with 5.47 digs per set (Cal State East Bay's Veronica Sanchez averaged 5.29). Crowl ends up fourth with 552 total digs.

Cal State Stanislaus ended the season with 7-23 overall and 4-18 CCAA records.

At 21-1 in conference play, Cal State San Bernardino won the CCAA Championship.
