Brown picks up career high in home finale

2/23/2013 8:34:00 PM

Box Score TURLOCK — Going out with their best effort, the Cal State Stanislaus women's basketball team dropped a heartbreaker to Cal State Dominguez Hills, 70-63, despite a career-high by Devin Brown.

Brown, the lone senior on the team, scored 20 points with eight steals to lead the Warriors before allowing the visiting Toros to edge ahead in the final two minutes.

Brown was 7-for-18 with three three-pointers on the night. She scored 14 of her points in the second half as she played early the entire game. The senior from Tracy did get a lot of help from her teammates. Three different Warriors -- Brian Cotton, Lauren Godde and Erin Godde -- each scored 10 points. Erin Godde also pulled a game-high 15 rebounds for a double-double.

It was Brown's layup at 3:44 left to go that gave Stanislaus a 61-58 lead. But a pair of Julia Poecksteiner free throws cut that lead to one. Then four more unanswered CSUDH free throws later, the Toros led by three with 1:46 to go.

The final free throw count was 22-for-22 for the Toros and 10-for-14 for the Warriors.

Denisha Lundy scored 25 points with five three-pointers to lead Dominguez Hills (8-16, 7-13 CCAA). Robynn Cochran had 14 points and 13 rebounds.

It was the Warriors' final home game on the year as they will wrap up the season on the road next weekend.
