Box Score HAYWARD — The Warriors needed to make just one free throw to end the season on a high note with a victory. But that didn't happen as they lost a heartbreaker to Cal State East Bay, 56-54, in overtime.
In the season finale for Cal State Stanislaus, the Warriors pushed the tournament-bound Pioneers to the limit before ending the 2012-13 campaign. Meanwhile, Cal State East Bay improved to 16-10 overall and 14-8 in the CCAA as the Pioneers head to the conference tournament for the first time.
The stars were aligned for the Warriors to win their final game. After the game was tied, for the 10th time, at 46-46 with 1:29 left to go neither team would score again in regulation.
Coming out of a timeout,
Briana Cotton steal the ball with 18 ticks remaining. After a Stanislaus timeout, Cotton would miss a jumper with :05 on the clock.
Lauren Godde pulled the rebound and was fouled with two seconds left and a chance to win on the foul line.
Godde, who was 2-for-3 from the free throw line prior to that moment (and leads the team with 103 free throws this season), unfortunately missed both free throws to send the game into overtime.
Cal State East Bay prevailed in extra time, edging the Warriors 10-8.
Cotton finished with a game-high 19 points (6 for 15) and
Devin Brown added 18 points on 7 of 14 shooting. Godde ended up with 12 points and six rebounds.
Erin Godde, who picked up her second straight double-double Friday night at Monterey Bay, had two points and eight rebounds.
The Warriors finished the season 2-25 overall and 1-21 in the CCAA.
