Box Score TURLOCK — Similar to Friday night's loss to Cal State L.A., the Warriors started out quiet offensively and a strong effort to comeback fell short as they fell to Cal State Dominguez Hills, 68-62, Saturday night at Fitzpatrick Arena.
Lauren Godde was one of the few bright spots with her shooting as the senior scored 21 points on 6 of 14 shooting. She was 2-for-2 on three-point tries and made 7 of 10 from the foul line. For Godde it was her third 20-point game this season and 12th of her career. In back-to-back games this weekend she scored 38 points.
Unfortunately, the stat-line for the rest of the team didn't match-up as well as the Warriors dropped to 8-4 overall and 5-3 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.
Take away Godde's line, the rest of the team was 15 for 44 from the field, 6-for-18 from the three-point arch, and 5-for-10 from the free throw line.
Jasmine Washington and
Briana Cotton each scored 11 points to contribute offensively.
Riley Holladay had 10 points as well to go with nine rebounds. Cotton made most of her baskets late in the game after being held scoreless in the first half.
Cassidy Sanders-Curry made her first start and pulled a game-best 11 rebounds.
Cal State Stanislaus started the game one for its first 13 attempts on Saturday after going 1-for-15 to start Friday's game. The Warriors finished the first half 8-for-29 for 27.6 percent before faring better in the second half when they made 44.8 percent of their chances.
After going early seven minutes without a basket in the second half, the Warriors got some life late in the game with three straight three-pointers by Godde, Burch and Cotton to make it a seven-point game with seven seconds left to cap a 12-4 run.
Cal State Dominguez Hills, winner of seven of its last eight games, improved to 9-3 overall and 5-3 in the CCAA. The Toros were led by Tayler Champion with 19 points. Champio had scored 27 at Chico State Friday night. Monay Lee had 12 points and 10 rebounds to help out CSUDH.
