UC San Diego, Cal Poly Pomona up next for Stanislaus men's soccer

Fresh off an impressive victory over Sonoma State, the Warriors will hit the road south to La Jolla and Pomona to take on Southern California strong-holds of the CCAA. The two opponents are combined 17-3 overall.

Series Notes: The Warriors are looking to beat UC San Diego for the first time since 2011. The Tritons have won two straight in the series and are 3-2 in the last five years while holding a 10-3-1 all-time record over the Warriors ... Cal Poly Pomona is 9-6-1 against Stanislaus but the Warriors have won two straight in head to head competition with a pair of 2-1 wins. Dana Taylor is 3-2 against the Broncos since 2009.

Last Time Against the Opponents: UC San Diego blanked the Warriors 2-0 last season in Turlock, on Oct. 4 and won 1-0 in La Jolla on Oct. 19, 2012. Stanislaus is seeking its first goal against the Tritons since the 2-1 overtime win in 2011 ... Manny Villegas and Carols Navarrete scored goals for the Warriors in last year's 2-1 win over Cal Poly Pomona on Oct. 6 at Warrior Stadium. Clint Long posted seven saves in that match. Stanislaus also had a 2-1 win over Pomona on Oct. 14, 2012. Josue Barajas scored the game-winner in the 69th minute.

In the Rankings: Cal Poly Pomona is ranked No. 10 in the NSCAA Division II poll this week. The Broncos are also No. 2 in the West while UC San Diego is No. 7 in the region.

On 2-1-1 Championship Pace? The Warriors are now 2-1-1 during California Collegiate Athletic Association play, which matched the same start they posted in 2012 - the year the men won the CCAA Championship. Stanislaus also started 2-1-1 in 2010.

One More Shutout: Clint Long and the Warriors continue to blank their opponents as the team recorded its fifth shutout with three coming in the last four matches. During this stretch the Warriors have outscored teams 4-1 during CCAA play. Long personally has four shutouts which brings his career total to 12, tying Javier Rosales at No. 2 in the CSUS all-time top 10 list.

Keep On Shootin': As a team the Warriors rank second among CCAA teams in shots with 183 (Cal State East Bay has 190). The Warriors are also second with 18.3 shots per match and second with 75 shots on goal. Stanislaus has out-shot opponents in eight of the 10 matches.

Who Leading Now? While Manny Villegas leads the team with three goals, the Warriors are also proving to be a well balanced offensive team with five different scorers. Four Warriors - Jose Ramirez, Ramior Ceja, Jose Acosta and Josue Barajas - each also scored two goals this season.

Even Distribution: Nine different players have assisted on a goal with the team leads at two assists - Gerardo Cazares.

About UC San Diego (8-3, 3-1 CCAA): The Tritons won twice last week with two shutouts. In fact, they have not allowed a goal in their last five wins and the only losses over the last nine matches were against Azusa Pacific and Cal Poly Pomona ... Brandon Bauman leads the team with four goals and six assists for 14 points ... Cameron McElfresh has a 0.63 GAA with 17 saves.

About Cal Poly Pomona (9-0-1, 4-0-0 CCAA): The 10th ranked Broncos remain undefeated after 10 matches and has won eight straight. As a team Pomona has eight shutouts and has only allowed two goals all year (they've scored 16) ... Fernando Quevedo leads the CCAA with a 0.20 goals against average and a 94.1 saves percentage ... Chris Gonzalez Dias leads the CCAA with seve goals and four game-winning goals.
