TURLOCK — The last time the Warriors won a match, it was back on Oct. 11 in San Francisco against the SF State Gators.
Friday night, the Gators were able to get even as they handed Cal State Stanislaus its 10th straight loss in a mostly-close match, 25-12, 23-25, 25-21, 25-20.
Aside from the opening set, where the Warriors gave SF State 11 points and hit -.056 to allow the Gators the easy 25-12 win, the rest of the contest was evenly matched — and easily could have gone the way of the Warriors.
Instead, despite 14 kills from
Blair Ehrlich and 10 from
Taylor Massengale, the Warriors dropped to 2-23 overall and 2-19 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. Saturday night, the Warriors host first-place Sonoma State in the season finale.
Sonoma State (17-4 CCAA) will be able to win the conference title out-right with a win Saturday night with Cal State San Bernardino (16-5) closely behind. The Coyotes are at Cal State Dominguez Hills to close out the year.
Also contributing Friday night for Stanislaus were
Hailey Gruetzmacher with 21 digs. Setter
Rachel Parsons had 34 assists and 10 digs plus two block assists. Massengale had four assisted blocks as the Warriors out-blocked the Gators on the night.
Jaclyn Clark, who is among the CCAA leaders in kills, had 19 kills and 15 digs to lead San Francisco State (14-12, 12-9 CCAA).
