Two-time Mountain West Champ Bulldogs took down Warriors

FRESNO — Fresno State's interior offense and post players were a bit too much for the Warriors to handle as the Bulldogs defeated Cal State Stanislaus, 65-36, in an exhibition contest Wednesday night.

The game served as the final tune-up for the Warriors as they open regular season play on Thursday at Fresno Pacific.

The Bulldogs' post players accounted for 51 of the team's points. Senior forward Alex Sheedy (20) and redshirt freshman center Bego Faz Davalos (19) combined for 39 of those points, while junior center Toni Smith accounted for eight. Faz Davolos controlled the paint from the start as she totaled 14 rebounds in the game for her first career double-double.

The Warriors didn't shoot well inside the large space of Save Mart Center as they went 14 for 63 for 22.2 percent and were just 2 of 19 from the 3-point line. They were also off on the foul line hitting 6 of 14.

All of the stats matters little as they will be tossed out because it was an exhibition game.

Aleseana Whitney led the Warriors with seven points and seven rebounds, Cassidy Sanders-Curry also had seven points and Reana Hardin added six points. Jasmine Washington and Camille Roberts each also pulled seven rebounds.

The Warriors did matched the Bulldogs (2-0) in rebounding at 49 each.

Fresno State is the two-time defending Mountain West Champions. The Bulldogs had made the NCAA tournament seven straight years.
