CARSON — Jocelyn Cervantes had a season-high 17 kills but the Cal State Stanislaus volleyball team lost at Cal State Dominguez Hills, 18-25, 25-17, 25-20, 25-21, Friday night.

Like the last time these two teams met in Turlock, the Warriors held the upper hand early in the match and won the first set 25-18. However, the Toros prevailed and rallied for three straight wins to improve to 3-20 overall and 2-17 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.

Cervantes took 41 swings and posted a .293 attacking percentage for the 17 kills. Her career high was 18 set early last season. Friday night, the redshirt sophomore from Duarte also had eight digs and a block assist. Blair Ehrlich posted 12 kills and Taylor Massengale added nine kills. Hailey Gruetzmacher had 15 digs while Courtney Lewis led the way with four assisted blocks.

Alijah Gunsaulus had 23 kills and a .475 percentage to lead the Toros.

The Warriors are at Cal State L.A. Saturday night before returning home for the final two matches next weekend against San Francisco State, the last team the Warriors beat, and Sonoma State.
