Box Score SAN FRANCISCO — Despite playing with a man-up advantage for most of the match, the Cal State Stanislaus men's soccer team was not able to come away with a victory on the road as Academy of Art defeated the Warriors, 2-1, Saturday at Boxer Stadium.

Jose Acosta accounted for the lone score for the Warriors to cut Stanislaus's deficit by half but it was a little late as the Warriors dropped to 2-3-1 overall to completet the non-conference portion of the schedule.

After trailing 2-0, the Warriors applied more pressure in the second half and finally broke through with a goal off a free kick in the 70th minute. A foul was called on Art U's Thorvaldur Sveinsson just outside the top of the box, giving the Warriors a free kick opportunity from 20 yards out. Acosta lined a shot high and left to beat ART U goalkeeper Alejandro Escobedo, making it 2-1.

Cal State Stanislaus appeared to tie the game mere seconds later. After the restart from the goal, the Warriors came down the field and sent a rolling cross through the box from the right side that made it all the way to the left side and was kicked into the goal for a 2-2 score. But the line judge held his flag up for offsides and the goal was disallowed.

Academy of Art (2-4-0) midfielder Alex Walsh picked up a red card in the 13th minute allowing the Warriors to play 10-on-9 in the field for more than 77 minutes. Art U had gone up ahead in the 10th minute on a Malcolm McLellan score and added a second goal just before halftime with a Alexander Tombach score.
