TURLOCK —
Camille Roberts netted a career high and two other Warriors also scored in double figures as the Cal State Stanislaus women's basketball team snapped a four-game skid with a 82-69 win over Sonoma State Friday night.
Roberts had a Stanislaus career-best with six three-pointers for 22 points to lead the Warriors as they improved to 4-9 overall and 2-7 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. The 82-point outcome was the highest scoring game for Stanislaus since a 103-87 loss to Academy of Art back on Nov. 22, in game two of the season.
Jasmine Washington scored 16 points with two steals and two blocks and
Alysa Valentine had 15 points, also her career-high.
Riley Holladay led all players with 10 rebounds.
Sonoma State (6-7, 4-5 CCAA) was led by Tanner Adams with 11 points. It is the Seawolves' third straight loss after four consecutive wins.
After SSU scored the opening bucket, the Warriors went on an 8-0 run with a Washington three-pointer, followed by back to back scores by Roberts. Roberts' first three pointer at 16:51 jump started the offense, both for the team and herself as the redshirt junior caught fire.
With the game at 11-9 Stanislaus, the Warriors took off again with a 12-0 run, capped by an
Ana Burch trey. The Warriors pretty much cruised from there, led by as many as 23 points early in the second half. Sonoma State would not get any closer than 13 points in the final minute of the game.
For Roberts, she was 8 for 14 from the floor and made six of 11 three-point tries. Valentine made three and Washington, who was 6 for 17 shooting, had two three pointers. As a team, the Warriors made 14 three-pointers (31 attempts). Entering the weekend, Stanislaus leads the CCAA in three-pointers made (7.2 per game) and attempted (24.6 per game).
The Warriors' Saturday night opponent, San Francisco State, lost by 27 points at Chico State to fall to 0-13 overall and 0-9 CCAA.
