ARCATA — Unable to come away with a result when they had opportunities, the Stanislaus State women's soccer team couldn't net a goal in a 1-0 loss at Humboldt State on Sunday.
The Warriors ended a streak of 10 consecutive wins over the Lumberjacks in falling to 9-4-3 overall and 4-3-3 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. With two regular season matches left to play next weekend, the Warriors will need some positive results to earn a tournament berth. With 15 points, Stan State is in seventh place, one point out of the top six. The top six teams after next Saturday's finales qualify for the CCAA Championship tournament.
For Humboldt State, the Lumberjacks moved into the top four, for the time being, with the win as they improved to 5-3-2 in CCAA (9-5-2 overall).

Full credit to Humboldt State. They played an excellent match and made the most out of their opportunities," head coach Gabriel Bolton said. "We had full control of the game in the first half but we weren't dangerous enough. It was unfortunate to give up a goal."
Stanislaus was credited with three shots in the first half but the Lumberjacks made their only first-half shot on goal count in the 37th minute. Emily Huska scored from in from of the net from passes by Caitlin Castle and MaKenna Dunn.
The Warriors continues to press and out-shot HSU 9-2 in the second half, but came up empty. In the end, Stan State out-shot the Lumberjacks, 12-5. HSU goalie Caitlin Plese was credited with five saves.
"The team fought hard in the second half but we just couldn't unlock their defense. I'm proud of the effort we just need to bounce back this week," Bolton added.Stanislaus State will wrap-up the regular season at home next week against Cal State L.A. (6-3-1 CCAA) on Thursday and Cal State Dominguez Hills (1-8-1 CCAA) on Saturday.
