ROHNERT PARK — Senior
Jordan Harris led the team in kills Friday night but No. 18 Sonoma State proved to be too good for Stanislaus State as the host Seawolves won in straight sets, 25-16, 25-20, 25-11.
The stage is set for the regular season finale on Saturday for the Warriors, which qualified for the inaugural CCAA championship tournament on Thursday when Chico State beat Humboldt State. Stan State (15-10, 9-10 CCAA) will be playing to be the No. 7 seed over Chico State, as the two teams hold the final two spots in the eight-team tournament, to be held at UC San Diego's RIMAC Arena next week.
A win at Humboldt State Saturday night could give the Warriors the No. 7 seed in the tournament — an important position since the Warriors will face Cal State San Bernardino instead of Sonoma State, again. The Warriors defeated Cal State San Bernardino last week in Turlock.
Chico State is at Sonoma State Saturday. If Stanislaus and Chico State, currently tied for seventh at 9-10 in conference play, finished with the same record the tie-breaker will come down to "ratio of sets won compared to sets lost for all conference matches" since the Warriors and Wildcats split the season head-to-head series. The Warriors enter Saturday night's match at Humboldt State with a 33/37 ratio (.892) while Chico State has a 32/37 ratio (.865).
The next step in the tie-breaking procedure is "ration of points won compared to points lost for all conference matches."
As for Friday night's match at Sonoma State, the Seawolves (21-3, 17-1 CCAA) rolled to their 18th straight win. Madelyn Densberger led with 13 kills and Caylie Seitz put-away 12. Sonoma State also had 20 total blocks with Densberger and Lexi Reddick each with four block assists.
Harris posted a great hitting percentage with her eight kills on 13 attempts and just one error. She also had a solo block and a block assist.
Morgan Miller had six kills and
Jocelyn Cervantes five. Team leader
Blair Ehrlich was shut-out on 13 tries with seven errors.
Maddi Seidl led the team with 13 digs and 15 assists.
