Warriors play two more games on the road

The Warriors hit the road again — this time much, much closer to home — this weekend as they play Academy of Art and Notre Dame de Namur in Belmont.

Thursday
vs. Academy of Art, Belmont, 2 p.m. | [Live Stats]

Saturday
at Notre Dame de Namur, 3 p.m. | [Live Stats[Live Video]

Series Notes: The Warriors lost a high scoring game to Academy of Art last year, on Nov. 22, in Turlock, 103-87. The only other time the teams met was way back on Nov. 28, 2008, an 80-76 Stanislaus win in Turlock … Stan State is 6-1 against NDNU but the teams have not met since 2010 in a 81-80 Warriors win in San Francisco.

A Tale of Two Different Games: The Warriors embarked on a long journey to Alaska last week to open the season with two different results. They began the season with a terrific 102-97 overtime win at Alaska Fairbanks on Nov. 13. The next night, in Anchorage, the No. 7 ranked Alaska Anchorage handled Stanislaus, 91-42.

That's a Long Ways to Go:
Stan State made its first trip to Fairbanks, Alaska since 1999 and just the first time in Alaska since playing in Anchorage in 2008. The team has plans to return to the 49th state in 2016.

HItting the Century Mark: Last Friday's 102-97 win at Alaska Fairbanks was the first time the
Warriors scored 100 points or more since Nov. 20, 2010, when they defeated Cal Maritime 100-46. It's the first time the team scored 100 points against a Division II team since the 2003 finale in a NCAA tournament game on March 14, 2003 against Cal State Bakersfield (106-116).

Welcome Back Faucett: Taylor Faucett
, who was on the 2013-14 team and sat out last season, had a nice return hitting 9 of 14 shots to lead the Warriors in scoring with 22 points in the game at Fairbanks. She also had two assists and two steals in 23 minutes of play.

Bench Scoring Triple Threat: Against Alaska Fairbanks,
Cassidy Sanders-CurryCamille Roberts and Ana Burch led the bench scoring with combined 39 points. Sanders-Curry had 15, Roberts scored 14 and Burch 10. In fact, Sanders-Curry is averaging 12 points and 8 rebounds after two games.

About the Opponents: Academy of Art is already 2-3 as the Urban Knights participated in the Disney Tipoff Classic in Anaheim. Art U is coming off two wins in Billings, Mont., with victories over Simon Fraser and Montana State Billings. Jasmin Guinn leads AAU with 19.6 points a game (10 three-pointers) … Notre Dame de Namur is 0-3 and will play Central Washington on Friday before taking on Stanislaus. NDNU's most recent game was at San Francisco State, a 67-63 loss. Kirsten Liana averages 9.3 points and 7.3 rebounds a game to lead the Argonauts.
