FRESNO — After the Warriors tied the game in the middle of the third quarter, Fresno State used its size to pull away late as the host Bulldogs defeated Stanislaus State, 72-49, Tuesday night at the Save Mart Center.
While the game did not count in the win-loss records for Stanislaus as it was an in-season exhibition contest, the Warriors displayed stretches of excellence against the Division I team. The Warriors tied the game at 40-40 with 4:46 on the clock in the third quarter, but Fresno State finished the night on a 32-9 run to pull away. The Bulldogs outscored the Warriors 24-7 in the fourth quarter.
Cassidy Sanders-Curry led the Warriors with 14 points while
Taylor Faucett and
Camille Roberts each added eight points.
Leticia Infante grabbed seven rebounds.
Bego Faz Davalos, a 6-foot-3 center, ended up with a triple double with 24 points, 17 rebounds and 10 blocks to dominate the paint to lead the Bulldogs. Moriah Faulk also scored 24 points with nine rebounds.
Stan State hung-in against Fresno State for most of the game and trailed by just five at the half, 33-28. The Warriors actually led early, 9-4, after six minutes of play.
Stanislaus State resumes regular season, and California Collegiate Athletic Association, play on Friday when the Warriors travel to Seaside to take on Cal State Montere Bay.
