#19 Humboldt State blasts homers, sweeps Warriors

ARCATA — The 19th ranked Humboldt State Lumberjacks belted five homeruns en route to the doubleheader sweep over Cal State Stanislaus on Friday.

Tiffany Hollingsworth homered twice in the first game, including a walk-off three-run bomb to lift the Lumberjacks, 7-5. Hollingworth also hit a home run in game two — one of three by HSU — in the home team's 11-7 win. Hollingsworth went yard in three consecutive at-bats, twice off Cheyenne Harper.

Cal State Stanislaus had a 5-3 lead in game one after a Nicolette Vizcaino RBI single in the sixth before the Lumberjack seventh. Darian Harris doubled in a run just ahead of the three-run homer to right by Hollingsworth.

For Humboldt State, Sydney Roberts and Dani Randall also hit homers.

Offensively for the Warriors, Jessica Varady hit a grand slam in the fourth inning of the second game to pull the Warriors within one at 5-4. For the game, Varady went 3-for-4 with five runs batted in. She also drove in a run with a single in the fifth. Morgan Balestreri went 2-for-4 with a double as well.

However, HSU scored five more runs in the fifth to push ahead 11-5. Holly Mooring plated two more runs with a double in the sixth for the final count.

Vizcaino finished with a 3-for-4 game one and Gabby Dias was 2-for-3 with a two-run double in the second.
