SAN BERNARDINO --
Cassidy Duke's fourth inning homerun turned out to be the decisive run as Cal State Stanislaus took the series finale to avoid the sweep at Cal State San Bernardino.
Duke went 3-for-4,
Holly Mooring and
Deenah San Luis each also had three hits as the Warriors won the second game 4-3 after dropping game one, 5-4. The Warriors are now 14-18 overall and 6-22 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.
Natalie Rendon was the pitcher of record in both games, losing game one in relief and pitched 5 2/3 innings in relief of the nightcap to pick up the win.
Duke, who also doubled in game two, belted a home run in the fourth inning to make it 4-3 -- a score that held-up as the final score. Rendon came in in the first inning and did not allow a run on five hits in 5 2/3 innings.
Jessica Varady threw a perfect seventh inning with a strikeout to earn a save.
Natalie Dorsey went 2-for-3, and hit a three-run homer in the sixth inning of game one to lead Stanislaus. San Luis also went 2-for-4 in game one for a five-hit day.
