No. 5 Cal State Monterey Bay wins twice over Warriors

SEASIDE -- The fifth ranked Cal State Monterey Bay Otters flexed their muscles offensively on Friday as they defeated Cal State Stanislaus twice in five innings, 9-0 and 9-1.

The Otters collected 18 hits in eight innings of play in the doubleheader to keep up with Humboldt State at the top of the California Collegiate Athletic Association standings. Monterey Bay improved to 39-9 overall and 23-7 in conference play.

Stanislaus, which had snapped a five-game losing streak last Saturday with a win at Cal State San Bernardino, fell to 14-29 overall and 6-23 in CCAA.

Three Otters doubles in game one keyed their success in the 9-0 win behind the pitching of Cori Reinhardt, who allowed three hits and struck out five in five shutout innings. Madison Casto was 2-for-3 with two doubles to lead CSUMB.

Nicolette Vizcaino, Jill Costa and Holly Mooring each singled for Stanislaus.

The Otters got homeruns by Alissa Greenhaw, Bianca Noriega and Lindsey Clarkson in the second game en route to the 9-3 win. Noriega finished the game 3-for-3 with three runs batted in. Clarkson also fanned seven Warriors in five innings in the circle.

The Warriors were led by Natalie Dorsey, who went 2-for-2 with a double. Stanislaus scored in the top of the fifth inning on a RBI infield single by Jessica Varady, scoring Vizcaino, who drew an one-out walk.
