SEASIDE -- The Cal State Stanislaus softball team fared better in game one on Saturday, but No. 5 Cal State Monterey Bay still managed to picked up two more victories over the Warriors with 6-1 and 11-2 wins.
The Warriors matched the Otters in hits with eight in Saturday's twinbill opener before falling 6-1 mainly due to a four-run third inning. Cal State Stanislaus fell to 14-32 overall and 6-26 in the CCAA.
Jessica Varady homered in the second inning to account for the only score.
Nicolette Vizcaino and
Alex Rowell each went 2-for-3 to lead the Warriors. Varady also started in the circle in game one but was out-pitched by Cori Reinhardt, who gave up eight hits but just one run in the complete game. She struckout three Warriors.
Bianca Noriega went 2-for-4 with a homer and drove in three runs in game one for the Otters.
In the series finale, CSUMB scored three runs in the second and four in the third to run-away to the 11-2, five-inning win. Alissa Greenhaw's two-run home run in the fifth ended the game for the eight-run mercy rule decision.
Cassidy Duke doubled and
Bryanna Menor tripled to lead the Stanislaus offense. CSUMB's Madison Casto went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and Greenhaw drove in five runs.
The Warriors will finish the 2015 season at home next weekend with four games against Sonoma State.
