POMONA —
Tyler Murphy threw a complete game shutout in the suspened game three of the series as the Warriors defeated Cal Poly Pomona, 3-0, on Sunday before dropping the finale, 7-0, for a series split.
Murphy threw all seven innings, over two days, and gave up just five hits in blanking Cal Poly Pomona. The Wariors are now 21-25 overall and 16-20 in the CCAA.
Erik Colombini and
Patrick Mulry each drove in a run in the second inning to give Stanislaus a 2-0 lead before the game was suspended due to rain.
When the game resumed on Sunday prior to the start of series finale, the Warriors held on to their advantaged and rolled to the 3-0 win. Colombia went 2-for-3 as did
Patrick Mulry 2-for-3.
In the second game on Sunday, the series finale, Cal Poly Pomona got even with a 7-0 win behind a strong start by Chris Powell who went 7 1/3 innings and gave up six hits and struck out six.
The Warriors will wrap-up the season with a series against Cal State East Bay. Friday's game is in Hayward before the Warriors host their final two home games in the form of a Saturday doubleheader on Saturday. Game time at Warrior Baseball Field on Saturday is at Noon.
