ELLENSBURG, Wash. — Scoring four goals for the fourth straight match, the Stanislaus State women's soccer team won its fourth consecutive game with a 4-3 win over Central Washington on Sunday.
Jade Poon,
Kirsten Coleman and
Jordan Moineau all wrapped up a tremendous offensive week each with a score on Sunday as the Warriors improved to 4-1-0 with the two important road victories this weekend in Washington.
The wins over Saint Martin's and Central Washington also extended Stan State's unbeaten streak over a GNAC opponent as the Warriors are now 13-0-1 in the last contests against teams to the Northern conference.
"I'm very proud with how hard we competed and our effort," Bolton said. "It's hard to go on the road and win. The two environments we played in were very challenging with long grass and on Sunday very windy."
Poon, who scored the OT golden goal in Friday's win at Saint Martin's, scored her fourth of the week to get the Warriors on the scoreboard first. At 20:02, after getting a through ball from
Sabrina Williamson, Poon beat a challenging goalie to put Stanislaus up 1-0. In the 32nd minute
Dani Rodrigues followed a rebound shot by
Gabriela Vargas to make it 2-0.
It was a see-saw battle in the second as teams traded goals in an offensive battle. Moineau's goal at 74:57 was book-ended by two Wildcats goals by Michaela Wallace (48th minute) and Whitney Lowe (83rd minute).
Coleman's 20-yard shot in the 87th minute proved to be the game-winner as CWU netted a last second score by Alyssa Navlet with four seconds left to play.
In three matches this week, Stanislaus scored a total of 12 goals with wins over Southern Oregon, Saint Martin's and Central Washington. The Warriors also beat Fresno Pacific 4-1 last Saturday. Poon finished the week with four goals while Coleman and Moineau each had three goals and two assists.
"Our attacking group is very explosive. We have a lot of confidence in their ability to take over games. It was exciting to see them explode for eight goals this weekend," said Bolton.
Amanda White had seven saves for Central Washington (2-3-0) and Warrior goalkeeper
Chelsea Lewandowski picked up six saves.
Stanislaus State will begin CCAA conference play next weekend at home when the Warriors host San Francisco State and Cal State Monterey Bay.
