LOS ANGELES — Facing perhaps the only team that's been hotter than the Warriors to start the 2015 season, the Stanislaus State volleyball team dropped its first contest of the season in a 3-0 setback at Cal State L.A.
The Warriors did battled back with great efforts before falling to the Golden Eagles 25-9, 25-21, 25-20. Stanislaus State, now 7-1 overall and 1-1 in the CCAA, will face Cal State Dominguez Hills on Saturday in Carson.
Blair Ehrlich finish with nine kills and
Taylor Massengale chipped in seven kills to lead the Warriors. Stanislaus hit under .200 for the first time this season against a strong L.A. defensive unit. The Golden Eagles won the net battle with nine total blocks to four while putting away nearly 30 percent of their attacks.
CCAA leader Iona Lofrano led all players with 14 kills for Cal State L.A., which has defeated the Warriors for the 13th consecutive time. Cal State L.A. improved to 9-1, 2-0 CCAA.
Maddi Seidl led the team with six digs to go with her 19 assists.
Lindsay Skadeland also had six kills.
