Stanislaus men home for next five matches

Hoping perhaps some home cooking will help as the Stanislaus State men's soccer team will play the next five contests at Warrior Stadium, beginning with Wednesday night's match against Cal State East Bay

Team Records: 1-7-3, 0-6-0 CCAA (13th) [CCAA Standings]

Friday

Monday

Series Notes: The Warriors beat Cal State East Bay, 3-2, in overtime last season on Sept. 30 in Hayward and have a 7-2-2 mark against the Pioneers since 1998. CSUEB, however, won the last two times the teams played here in Turlock, a 2-1 OT win in 2013 and a 3-1 score in 2014 … Even though Chico State has dominated the head-to-head series with a 20-8-2 record, the Warriors have won three of the last four meetings, including last Oct. 4's 1-0 win in Chico. The last time Chico State visited Warrior Stadiium was Oct. 19, 2014, a 1-0 Warriors win … Bethesda and Stanislaus State are meeting for the first time.

In the Rankings: Cal State L.A. (12th) and UC San Diego (21st) are the only CCAA teams ranked in the NSCAA Top 25 … There are six teams in the top 10 of the West Region poll.

Not a Good Start: Unfortuately, Stan State's 1-7-3 record constitute the second worst record after 11 matches during the CCAA era. The 1999 team was 1-9-1 after 11 matches and went on to finish 3-15-1.

More Bad News: The 6-0 loss on Sunday was the Warriors' worst margin of defeat since a 7-1 loss on Oct. 5, 2008 at Cal State L.A.

But It Wasn't All Bad: Despite the 2-1 overtime loss on Friday, the Warriors played well to nearly pull off an upset — and the first CCAA win — over national runner-up Cal Poly Pomona. The Warriors had tied the game int he 60th minute on a goal by Joseph Mayorca and forced extra time, but the Broncos were given a penalty kick in the 94th minute to end the match.

Maybe Good New At Home? The Warriors could finally see some success as they will be playing at home for the next five matches. Since Warrior Stadium opened in 2009, the Warriors are 45-23-9 in matches played on home pitch. Of the four remaining CCAA home games, three of the opponents are a combined 4-13-5 in conference play entering this week. UC San Diego is 4-1-1.

About Cal State East Bay: The Pioneers went 0-1-1 last week at Cal State San Bernardino and Cal Poly Pomona and are 0-3-1 in away contests this season … East Bay is led by Michael Paiva with three goals … Three different goalkeepers have split time for the Pioneers with Ariel Rosenmann logging the most minutes (420) with a 1.50 GAA.

About Chico State: The Wildcats are 3-1 in the last four matches after splitting their trip last week. They lost to No. 13 Cal State L.A. (1-0) but upset #20 Cal State Dominguez Hills, 3-1 … Omar Nuno has six of the team's 11 goals and Damion Lewis has a .830 GAA in 12 matches (1087 minutes).

About Bethesda: Bethesda University is based in Anaheim, Calif. The Flames are a member of the National Christian Colleges Athletic Association (NCCAA). Entering the week, they have won two straight (La Sierra and Saint Katherine) and will play two more matches before visiting Turlock on Monday … Jun Mo Ryu has four of the team's six goals.
