Agressive offense brings Warriors sweeping victory over Otters

SEASIDE – Stanislaus State's aggressive offense kept Cal State Monterey Bay on their toes as they swept the Otters in three sets at the Otters Sports Center Saturday night at The Kelp Bed.
 
With significant offensive contributions from a number of Warriors, Stan State shut down the Otters (9-9, 4-7 CCAA) on their home court 25-13, 25-19, 25-16, to sweep the season series. Stan State rebounds from a three-set loss Friday night at Cal State East Bay to improve to 9-10 overall and 6-4 in the CCAA.

Stanislaus are in the midst of a five-match stretch away from home and went 2-1 this week on the road with wins in San Francisco and Monterey.
 
Leading Stan State's front row domination Saturday night was Blair Ehrlich with 15 kills. Ehrlich was the leading point scorer for both teams earning 16.5 points.
 
Massengale had one of her most impressive nights yet without any attacking no errors on her 14 total hitting attempts. She tallied nine kills for the match for a .643 hitting percentage and added three blocks on defense.
 
Right side hitter Lindsay Skadeland also had a hot night with eight kills and only one error on 15 total attempts (.467). Skadeland also contributed three blocks.
 
Not only did the Warriors stay aggressive in the front row, Stan State held up their side of court defensively as well with 38 total digs. Libero Hailey Gruetzmacher led with 12 digs, Maddi Seidl followed with nine, Ehrlich had seven, and Jocelyn Cervantes dug six.
 
Leading the Otters was Anela Visesio with nine kills. Ashlynne Armstrong was the leader of CSU Monterey Bay's defense with 10 total digs. Marissa Miller facilitated the Otters offense with 14 assists.  
 
The Warriors will be right back at it with another conference match on Tuesday night as they travel to Rohnert Park to take on Sonoma State at the Wolves Den at 7 p.m.
