CHICO – The Stanislaus State volleyball team faced an unfortunate defeat in four sets as they faced the top ranked team in the North division of the CCAA, Chico State, on Saturday night at the Art Acker Gymnasium.
After losing set number one, the Warriors (9-11, 6-5 CCAA) fought back and took set two from the Wildcats (15-5, 9-2 CCAA) with ease, before losing two consecutively to give the Wildcats the match, 16-25, 25-17, 12-25, 20-25.
Blair Ehrlich led the Warriors with 12 kills for the night.
Taylor Massengale followed closely behind with 11 kills, and
Lindsay Skadeland added seven to the offense. Setter
Maddi Seidl officiated the Warriors offense with 32 assists.
The Warrior defense was led by
Hailey Gruetzmacher with 16 digs. Ehrlich totaled 11 digs, and both
Jocelyn Cervantes and Seidl tallied 10 of their own.
The Wildcats were led Olivia Mediano with 18 kills, and Kim Wright follower her with 10 kills. Shannon Cotton led the Wildcats defense with 18 digs, and setter Tory Thompson led the match with 45 assists.
The Warriors will be back at home for the first time in three weeks on October 28
th as they take on the Seawolves of Sonoma State at 7 p.m. at Ed & Bertha Fitzpatrick Arena.
