Coming off a solid victory, the Stanislaus State men's soccer team returns to Southern California this week looking to turn the conference season around.

Series Notes: Cal Poly Pomona has gone unbeaten in the last four meetings against Stanislaus State with a 3-0-1 record. The last time the Warriors were victorious over the Broncos was Oct. 6, 2013 in Turlock. The last Stanislaus win in Pomona against the Broncos was in 2009 … Stanislaus is 7-10-2 against Cal State San Bernardino with the last win in 2012, a 1-0 decision in San Bernardino. The Warriors are 0-2-1 against the Coyotes in the last three meetings.
In the Rankings: Cal Poly Pomona is ranked fifth and Cal State San Bernardino is ninth in the NSCAA West Region poll. The strong CCAA has eight teams in the region's top 10.
In the Win-Column: The Warriors used a CCAA bye week to earn their first victory of the year in a 3-0 win over UC Santa Cruz on Sunday. Stanislaus avoid a program worse start, went it was 0-8-0 in 2001, by earning a win in its ninth contest.
Bender's Brace: Sophomore converted-forward
Sean Bender scored his first two collegiate goals on Sunday, adding on to a lead started by
Willie Gomez, with two scores in the second half. Bender scored his first goal, in the 70th minute, after collecting a long clearing pass from
Matthew Waldron way back at the top of the box. Bender dribbled and beat a defender to his left and blasted it 20 yards out for the goal. His second goal had the same finish, but this time he stole a pass-back from a Banana Slug midfielder for the goal at 73:22. Bender had transferred from Whitworth, where he was a defender.
Back to Pomona: The Warriors spent a lot of time at Pomona's Kellogg Field at the end of last season when they played in the CCAA tournament before returning to the same turf for the NCAA Championships first round match. The Warriors posted two thrilling double overtime contests, one sending them to the CCAA title tile and the other ending the historic 2015 season.
About Cal Poly Pomona: The Broncos, the defending NCAA runner-up, had their four-match winning streak snapped on Sunday in a 1-0 loss at Chico State … Sergi Monso leads the team with eight goals with CCAA leading five game-winners … Jason Trejos had played in all 1,111-plus minutes in goal with a 0.49 GAA.
About Cal State San Bernardino: The Coyotes lost twice last week and were shutout 1-0 by Cal Poly Pomona and 2-0 by Chico State … Diego Casillas is the team's leading scorer with three goals.
